Thank God for Mothers | A Poem for Worship
Based on the story of Mary and Elizabeth (Luke 1:26-28)
Luke 1:26-28
Common English Bible (The story of Mary and Elizabeth)
26 When Elizabeth was six months pregnant, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a city in Galilee, 27 to a virgin who was engaged to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David’s house. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 When the angel came to her, he said, “Rejoice, favored one! The Lord is with you!”
Thank God for Mothers
Old and yet by God’s design, a mother she would be.
Young and never having tried, a mother she would be.
By voice, by blood, by choice, or by birth our mothers have children on God’s green earth.
Thank God for mothers seen and unseen and mothers that soon will be.
